Last weekend, we’ve collaborated with Burpple and provided 3 GoCars to go on a food trip to Seremban and it was a lovely evening of good food and good company. Briefly, Burpple is a food discovery app thatĀ solves your question on where to eat without you putting a fight with your buddy who reverts the same question back to you. Download the new Burpple app to discover places near you or write your own recommendations today!

For this trip, we were led by Brian, an avid foodie. Ask him any questions on where is the best place to get Char Kuey Teow and he’ll be able to list it all out for you!

The entourage met at GoCar’s Jalan Riong pickup point and manage to get to know each other briefly before embarking on one mission- to eat. Before we hit the road, the “Forever Hungry Community” had a taste of how to use GoCar and in less than a minute, we were all ready to conquer Seremban.

Seremban is the main town of the Negeri Sembilan State 45 minutes away from KL city and familiar to many, it’s the birthplace of “Siew Pao”! After a short drive, we finally arrived at our first destination.

Quinn Beef Noodles (Kemayan Square)

Located further up Kemayan Square is Seremban’s famous beef noodles. Its humble origin traces back to its first shop in the iconic Pasar Besar Seremban where the stench of fish and poultry could be appreciated by few or none.

We were greeted by an elderly lady whom we later discovered to be the lady behind Seremban’s famous beef noodles and sheĀ seemed to be excited as we are! WeĀ went ahead with their speciality,Ā which is the dry beef noodles in contrary to the usual soup-based beef noodles.

Quinn’s beef noodles (RM8) topped with peanuts and preserved vegetables isĀ definitely an unusualĀ condiment to beef noodles but it matches so well for Quinn’s beef noodles. The texture of the beef is commendably tender and together with the bouncy thick rice noodles “lai fun” (almost like laksa noodles) in thick dark sauce, it’s a perfect marriage. Go ahead, add on another bowl of bouncy beef balls (RM9) and what you get is a complete happy meal here at Quinn’s!

When you’re with Burpple, you’re well fed. It wasn’t long after our Seremban beef ball noodles fix and we are on the road again to our next destination. So here we are at our next destination!

Seremban Seafood Village

No food tour in Seremban is complete without famous baked crabs. Seremban Seafood Village Restaurant is a local favourite and we can see why. With crowds flooding in from 6 pm onwards, we knew this place was going to be good.

It didn’t take long for the food to arrive and as usual, cameras eat first.

Their signature tofu (RM15) topped with shallots and fish cakes isn’t as appealing but the texture of the tofu paired with thick clear sauce wasĀ adequately soft and smooth. The seafood served here was undeniably fresh and we love how they portioned their dishes. Needless to say, their baked crabs are the star of the day.

Fresh dried chilli clams (RM25) are well flavoured and the slightly chewy texture makes it a pleasure to dig in!

These sizable soy sauce king prawns (RM65) are slightly steep on their price butĀ try eating them without peeling off its shell!

They may have sauced the dried chilli mantis prawn (RM25) too much hence it tastes a gives a slightly soggy mouthfeel. Taste wise was nothing less than the other well-cooked dishes.

Sweet and sour chilli crabs (RM80/kg) is an all time favourite whether young or old. We love how the flavours were not too overpowering, allowing us to taste the natural sweetness of the crab itself. To be honest, some steam buns for dipping would be perfect.

Trust us. the baked crabs (RM80/kg) is a must try! Unlike the usual crab dishes, the baked crabs here has a slightly salty seasoning, and the flesh would be slightly shrunken as a result of being baked. Nevertheless, still an affair of foodgasm.

After everything on the plate was reduced to scraps, it’s time to go home. It didn’t take long till the food coma kicked in and everyone was presumably knocked out at the spacious back seat on the way home.

We’ve arrived back in KL just in time to return the GoCar back to Jalan Riong and we couldn’t help but ask Brian to host the next Burpple makan tour soon because this one was so good! Not sure if he was serious about compiling a list of 20 eateries in Ipoh for the next Burpple food tour but we’ll take that as something exciting brewing soon. Anyway, we’ll remember what you’ve said, Brian! That’s all for now and don’t forget to check out Burpple’s new app whenĀ exploring eateries near you.
