We have updated the verification process for new GoCar members recently, and our CEO Alan addressed the change in the note below.
On Monday morning, I ended our weekly team meeting by revisiting our values. We do this from time to time to make sure everyone on the team align their tasks with the values that are already in place, simply as a reminder of why we do what we are doing.
Transparency plays a big part in our culture here at GoCar. We believe in being open and honest with not only our team, but with our members as well. Today, I would like to share about something we have been working on for the past few weeks.
Recently, we have been receiving feedback regarding our updated process to verify new GoCar members — why we are verifying your identification with various government agencies including the Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and why sometimes it takes almost 24 hours to complete the verification processes. As we respect and value privacy, rest assured that all personal data will not be shared elsewhere and will only be used by our team as reference to conduct the necessary checks for verification purposes.
At GoCar, we are always making improvements to enhance the safety of our members and cars. We didn’t want to do this, but it is a requirement now because GoCar has been sustaining various costs in damages, summonses, and accidents caused by negligence. It may not be the best solution, but it is the best we can do for now to ensure your safety throughout your trip with GoCar will not be compromised due to negligence. In the meantime, please bear with us while we look into integrating a more seamless verification process to better your experience with us from the start.
On behalf of my team, I apologise for any inconvenience caused. I cannot stress how much your safety means to us, which governs our decision to make changes to ensure we provide a safe, accessible, and reliable alternative transportation with GoCar’s presence in the market.
We understand that under certain circumstances, you may have questions or require your approval to be expedited. Please get in touch with us at hello@gocar.my, and we will do our best to assist you.
Thank you for your continual support and being part of our journey so far.
Alan Cheah, CEO of GoCar Malaysia
